Lives and works in Brussels.

Graduated in communication and photography, Julie Calbert has worked for the Belgian press and has been teaching photography for several years. She collaborates regularly with musicians and artists from the international scene. Her work, which moves between photography, visual art, and experimentation, has been presented in numerous group exhibitions across Europe. In 2023, her work was the subject of commissions and solo exhibitions at the Centre d’Art Contemporain du Luxembourg belge, La Part du Feu gallery in Brussels, and DEUSS gallery in Antwerp. In 2024, Julie Calbert received a publishing grant for her project Êkhô and exhibited her works at L’Enfant Sauvage gallery and Le Grand Manège. She also took part in a group exhibition at Les Filles du Calvaire gallery in Paris. In 2025, she was selected for OpenFolio at the Institut pour la Photographie in Lille, was a finalist for the Virginia Prize, named artist-in-residence at the Concertgebouw in Bruges, and exhibited at Villa Perochon.

As a visual artist and photographer, she explores the relationships between memory, body, movement, and environment through photography, installation, and sculpture, and more recently, the creation and modeling of virtual environments. In her experimental approach to the image, Julie Calbert works with alteration, repetition, and imprint, layering elements and inscribing time into the material. Through processes of transformation and erasure, she brings forth suspended forms, oscillating between appearance and disappearance. Blurred silhouettes, fragmented landscapes, gathered or sculpted objects compose a world where variation and mutation shape evocative narratives.
