Elisa Miralles is a Spanish photographer and visual artist with a background in Chemical Engineering. She began her photography career in 2006 after receiving a World Press Photo scholarship to participate in the Urban Youth project in Manila. This experience shaped her socially engaged, identity-focused visual language.
Her work explores themes of identity, self-construction, and the boundary between public and private spheres. She has received several awards, including the FotoPres Prize (Fundación La Caixa) and the Unicaja Photography Prize.
Elisa's work has been widely exhibited in Spain and internationally, including at Museo Lázaro Galdiano, Canal de Isabel II, Caixaforum Barcelona, Fotomuseum Winterthur (Switzerland), and museums in Buenos Aires, Bonao, and cultural centers in Mexico, Lima, and Santiago de Chile.
She has participated in fairs and festivals such as PhotoEspaña, Voies Off (Arles), Unseen (Amsterdam), GoaPhoto (India), PhotoIreland, and La Nuu (Barcelona). Her photobook WANNABE (La Fábrica, 2017) critiques female beauty standards. She is also featured in 50 Photographs with History by Signo Editores.
Elisa took part in the Graniti Murales residency (Sicily) and co-created #serlobas, a project rethinking female body representation, exhibited in spaces like Sala Amárica and Chillida Leku.
In addition to photography, she explores performance art, presenting works at institutions like the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. She also teaches visual creation, focusing on critical and conceptual development in photography.
