Akshay Mahajan, born in 1985 in India, is an artist dedicated to using photography to explore post-colonial cities, landscapes, and mythologies. His work reveals "failed futures" and unfulfilled aspirations through a lens that connects pre-colonial memories with postcolonial realities.
Co-founder of Blindboys.org and a member of PIX Quarterly's editorial team, Mahajan has received significant accolades, including being the runner-up for the 2023 Aperture Portfolio Prize and being named Foam Talent for 2023-24 by Foam Museum Amsterdam.
His projects, such as "People of Clay" and "Archive of the Invisible," have been exhibited internationally, including at the Athens Photo Festival and the Cairo Biennale. Mahajan has also curated major events like GoaPhoto and Serendipity Arts Festival.
